Zài Jiàn China House Restaurant (that’s “good bye” in Mandarin Chinese)… and a big heeeeeeello to The Hill Condominiums! The old China House Restaurant at 925 Eglinton Ave West has closed it’s doors to make way for The Hill Condominiums by the BSaR development group (think 12 Degrees at Beverley and Queen St. West).
According to a City of Toronto development application, the developer plans to build a new 9 storey multi use building with 3 levels of below grade parking. They’d like to have 94 residential units with 1000 sq m of retail space on ground on the ground floor. The existing 2 storey building (China House) is to be demolished to make way for the new condo that will be built on properties 925-935 Eglinton Ave. W.
I live a few blocks away from the development, so I took a walk over to see how things are coming along! There wasn’t much to see except for a “Bolt” sign on the boarded up entrance of the Restaurant. To many, this may not mean much but to those familiar with Bolt’s work…it’s a great sign of things to come. If you enjoy eating as much as me, there’s a good chance you’ve seen some of Bolts work at places like Giancarlo Trattoria on Clinton and College, or AME on Mercer St. I’m guessing they’ve been hired to design the sales centre for The Hill and if so, it should be exciting to see what they come up with!
Core Architects are the team behind the design for the The Hill and had the following to say about it on it’s website: “This mid-town condo features extensive terracing at the rear of a strong retail presence on Eglinton. The podium will evoke a traditional masonry building feel, while the glazed condo is more modern.”
Prices at The Hill will start at $279,900. If you’d like to purchase here, I’d love to help! The first step to getting the process started is by filling out the form below:
