Did you know that Canada has it’s own Ceramic Art museum?
Did you know it was located in Toronto?
If you answered no to the 2 questions above then for sure you didn’t know that this is the building of the Gardiner Museum!
This awesome piece of Architecture can be found just south of Bloor on Queen’s Park. It’s Perfectly nestled between the Lillian Massey building to the left and the Queen Anne-style Margaret Addison Hall to the right.
In 2003 they closed their doors to remodel and add an additional 14,000 sqf, which makes sense as they have over 3,000 historical and contemporary pieces in their collection. (I’d hate to have to do the dish’s in this building). Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg were the architects chosen for this expansion and had to do it within a budget of $7.23 million US. The result is an amazing architectural masterpiece in the heart of downtown. Check it out for yourself and don’t for get to stop in at Canadian celebrity chef Jamie Kennedy’s restaurant on the 3rd floor. More information on the Gardiner Museum can be found here.
