Entrepreneur, Humanitarian and Theatre Impresario! Three big words to sum up and even bigger man.
On April 15th 2009 the city of Toronto honoured “Honest” Ed Mirvish by naming a street in the Theatre District after him. Plaques were also unveiled to salute and honour a man who came to the city with next to nothing and left it with world class theatres. Ed Mirvish passed away July 11th, 2007 and is the only Canadian in history for whom the theatres on Broadway in New York City dimmed their lights on the day of his funeral.
It’s great to see the city give back to man who has given it so much more. If you’re ever in the theatre district, take a walk on Mirvish Way or better yet catch a preformance in one of his theaters…you won’t regret it “Honestly!”

I spend most of my day travelling thorough out the city and often wonder how all this came to be. The bridges, the buildings, the City… who built it and how. Most of my questions usually go unanswered but now theres a book published that’ll shed some light on the mystery of our City. Enter Toronto’s Visual Legacy!

It’s finally here! As blogged about before, Heritage Toronto is putting on their 1st ever Building Storeys: A Photo Exhibit of Toronto’s Aging Spaces. It’s going to be held at the Gladstone Hotel this week from the 17th – 22nd

I’ve always been fascinated by the detail and quality that’s been put into Toronto’s historic gems. From the grand coloumns at union station to the red brick Flatiron Building on Front St, Toronto truly does have it all!
