On Sunday June 4th, Lanterra Developments held a community party for purchasers and residents in the Dufferin and Lawrence community! The celebration was to mark a milestone for the development…ground breaking!!

The Rushton Residences has quickly become one of the most asked about projects on the blog!
Today I received my invitation for the preview opening, and with it came my first glimpse of what The Rushton Residences will one day look like. At a total of 9 storeys tall and featuring only 35 residential units, The Rushton takes a few design cues from it’s relatives (530 Condos) down the street. The initial rendering shows large terraces for north facing units with the potential of commercial space below.

Things are looking “up” at the 530 St. Clair construction site! Over the past few months demolition, digging and foundation has been underway. On a recent drive through the area I noticed a crane has now been erected as well. This is exciting news for purchasers at 530! Majority of the units have sold at 530 St. Clair but there are still 4 different layouts available. The latest literature I read from the sales centre had fall 2012 as the anticipated time of occupancy…if progress continues at this pace, I think it’s very likely that they’ll be right on time!
If you’re looking for something to move into a bit later than 2012 and would like to still be in the area…don’t forget to read up on The Rushton Residences, which will be built a few blocks west!
These past few months, I’ve really started to take a likeing to the smaller more boutique infill projects in the City…take for example The Hive, 8 Gladstone and now The Rushton!
Located at 743 St. Clair West, The Rushton Residences will be 9 storey end user and rental building. Plans are calling for a total of 35 units 26 being owned residential and the rest being rentals. There won’t be any parking for sale but they’re looking into the option of having spaces for rent. The same builders who brought 500 and the soon to be completed 530 St. Clair to the area will also be building The Rushton. The builders are no stranger to the area as The Goldman Group also built the Castle Hill Townhomes along Davenport (at the base of Casa Loma) and only a few minutes from The Rushton. Since 1953 Lash Development Corp. has been the name behind thousands of preimer homes and condominiums across southern Ontario and Florida. They are currently building 4 other projects including 777 Steeles West, 455 Adelaide West – Fashion District Lofts, 20 Stewart and 66 Portland

After all the success that of Lanterra’s first release of Treviso condos, they’ve followed up with a the second launch…La Piazza (Treviso Phase 2)!
The second tower will complement the first and will be built directly on the Dufferin and Lawrence corner. The building will rise to a total of 24 storeys and will be made up of over 60 different floorplans. In total, about 520 units will be available throughout the tower and the podium!
Finishes will be similar to phase one and will include laminate flooring, porcelain or ceramic tiles in most areas! Munge and Leung have have put kitchen packages that will include granite countertops, ceramic tile backsplash, and stainless steel-front appliances…all standard!
I attended an intimate dinner with the Developers and the Treviso team where they told us more about plans for phase 2. They spent a lot of time analyzing what worked and what didn’t with phase 1 and used the data to make La Piazza even better! Phase 2 will feature an indoor swimming pool, 9th floor rooftop area with outdoor hot tub and fire place, bbq’s and dining spaces. A lot of people I helped get into phase 1 expressed how much they liked the oversized balconies. They developers also picked up on this trend and included the large balconies for podium AND tower suites. The Piazza will link the two phases together and make for a great gathering place for residents!

I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news…
The good news – I was right about 8 Gladstone coming to Queen West.
The bad news…isn’t so bad – Why you ask? It’s going to happen a lot sooner than I initially wrote!
Back in February a wrote a post breaking down the few details known about the project…fast forward a month and it looks like 8 Gladstone will be coming to market earlier than originally thought! Their first e-flyer was sent out this week meaning presales should take place shortly. If you’ve yet to read the details of the project, check out the original post here.
I got my clients in early for the first launch (2 Gladstone), which was necessary given the large amounts of interest.
