If you’re a loyal reader to the blog, chances are you’ve noticed I missed this weeks MustHaveMonday post…but don’t fret, it’s Friday and I’m packing both themed days into one!
Excuses aside, I present to you…The POPA!
It’s a nifty little attachement for the iPhone 4. It’s purpose is to make your smartphone less of a phone and more of a camera! Though I haven’t actually used it my self, I have done a lot of reading up on it (hint hint wink wink Christmas is coming). Twist the POPAs barrel to connect to your iphone, and kaboooooom you’re ready to go. The big read button at the top of the POPA makes your iphone picture ready in seconds. I quick push of the big red button and you’re snapping away. It retails for about $75 and can be ordered online!
Watch it in action below:
Now that we’ve got the MustHaveMonday part of the post out of the way… let’s move on to some PHOTOFRIDAY pics:
Shot from atop CASA condos, I took this photo looking down at their outdoor pool!

Surprise Surprise… The Ford brothers have it all wrong again! As I’m sure you’ve heard, the two have come up with all sorts of plans for Toronto’s Lower Don Lands. I’m not even going to bother debating the stupidity of the ideas they’ve announced, but rather offer a different perspective of how to look at our waterfront issues.
This summer, I was fortunate enough to go out on the lake, not once…but twice! The majority of my travels took me along the shore of the waterfront, from the Royal Canadian Yacht Club in the East to Snugs Harbour Restaurant in the West (Port credit). During both trips I was absolutely amazed at how beautiful Toronto is shaping up to be! It’s hard to appricaite the beauty of the City while driving through it…but from the outside looking in, I got a TOTALLY different understanding!
So where am I going with all of this? The Ford’s should be doing the same… looking at the waterfront from a different view. While researching for the River City development I learnt a lot about Waterfront Toronto and it’s role in redeveloping the Lower Dons area (You can read all about their mandate and plans here). The most important thing to note is that Waterfront Toronto is made up of all three levels of government…meaning all three would have to agree with the plans Doug Ford has proposed. I also learned that: “Waterfront Toronto has a 25-year mandate to transform 800 hectares (2,000 acres) of brownfield lands on the waterfront into beautiful, sustainable mixed-use communities and dynamic public spaces.” And based on my own talks with people about Dougs plans… it’s looking like the majority aren’t that excited for his mega malls and Ferris wheels. Streetcar Developments has been really “digging” the City as of late with over 4 projects under construction… and a new one coming soon! Corktown Phase 2 and 2 Gladstone are the closest to completion, with Trinity and SYNC lofts not to far behind. On a recent trip to Queen East, I stopped by the site and took a few photos of the shoring and excavation going on at SYNC lofts…check more pics below!
There’s two things I love in life: the smell of fresh bread, and architects that aren’t afraid to try something different… put the two of them together and you have the perfect recipe for a “loaf” of fun!
Last night, the Ontario Bread Co. was transformed into a block party of sorts as RAW hosted their annual “thank you” event! Guests walked down a lane-way off of Ossington and were greeted by an ice cream truck serving up summer time favourites. The crowd was made up of many different circles including real estate developers, HGTV hosts, fashion bloggers, tweeters and area residents.
Loaves of bread hung from the ceiling while the DJ played to the crowd from the office. (note the employee to the right carrying on business as usual)
Toronto got it’s first real taste of summer yesterday, and with it came a message from above! Claritin took to the sky and plastered it with a message of relief to suffering Torontonians with allergies…Live Claritin Clear Today.
Depending on where you were in the city, the message may have been upside down or even backwards! I was indoors at a conference during the arial graffiti show, but several people txt and emailed me with photos. The one above was taken downtown while the one below was from midtown.
… Will we be seeing more of these this summer?
A special thanks to Lauren for giving me the heads up on the YouTube video documenting the sky show!
The tardiness of this weeks “Photo Friday” (posting it on a Saturday unlike the title suggests) has a lot to do with the title of the photo…Crane City. It’s been crazy busy in the last five days with 3 new pre construction projects launching! If the next five years in real estate is anything like the past five years, we all better get used to cranes dominating the skyline.
This picture was taken from LTD condos at Bathurst and Lake Shore, and captures the cranes at City Place as more condos start construction! This week I’ll be spotlighting three new pre construction projects, check back on Monday for more…until then, check out my photoblog for photos from the past week!

This weeks Photo Friday takes us 25 storeys above Toronto in the Lanterra built building know as Murano! The Murano is made up of two towers (35 and 45 storeys respectively) that rise up from a two story podium along Bay St (north of College). The developer was inspired by the “glass making” island off of Venice, aptly named: Murano! Architect Peter Clews definitely made the historic connection of island apparent with the fusion of glass cladding around both buildings!
The cladding allows for some of the most desirable sweeping views of the City. In the above picture (looking North East) you can see Casa and X condos emerging in the skyline! The North towers lobby is also quite significant with it’s two way fireplace, sitting area, library and travertine floors. All of these elements are tied together by a beautiful blue and gold glass sculpture that greats residents and guests as the enter the building…just like the ones found in the art galleries of Venice.
I came up with the name “Business as Usual” for this photo because the breath taking views of Toronto are what I usually see on a daily basis! If you’d like to buy a place with similar sights…give me a call or send me an email, I’d love to help!
