Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors celebrated a HUGE win last night against King James, Big Shaq and the Cleveland Cavaliers! The win couldn’t have come at a better time…with the Leafs in dead last and Toronto FC’s devastating season ending loss, it feels good to have at least one team winning in Toronto.

I’ve printed off my schedule, and if you’re a true Toronto fan you should do the same!

pier27

Yippppeeee! Today I received my “Realtors Invite” to the for Pier 27′s contruction party…and you know what that means?? Free food and information, my favourite!

What’s currently a vacant parking lot will soon be the luxurious home to The Residents of Waterlink at Pier 27.  For those who haven’t been to the site, it’s the empty parking lot next to the huge Captain John Ship docked a the slip of Yonge and Queens Quay.  I’ve been a fan of this project from day one, and even used the lot as ‘shelter’ in the middle of a mid summer storm.  I’m keeping this post short, but I’ll be sure to have more info and pics up after the lunch-in, next week!

LGfashion Week

Fashion and Real Estate share a lot of similarities…be it the curves, the lines, the trends or the style!  What better place for the two to meet than at the future home of DNA3 (by Canderel Stoneridge).

LG Fashion Week by L’Oréal Paris is annual event held in Toronto.  In it’s 11th year the festival brings together media, industry, buyers and consumers to view the season’s collections in the Fashion Capital of Canada!  Aside from gorgeous models and luxurious fabrics…what really catches my eye is the venue. From October 19th to the 24th 2009 The Fashion Design Council of Canada will be using the old car dealership at King and Shaw as ‘Fashion Week Headquarters’.  They’ve been bringing some big changes to the corner in recent weeks and today the final product is revealed.

Now here’s where the Real Estate ties in to it all.  The site is also the future home of DNA3.  Launching in Spring 2010, the third DNA condo will be released and judging by the rendering  it’s going to ‘gorgeous, dawling… just gorgeous.’

They’re along way from launching, but if you’d like to be kept in the loop, send me an email…i’d love to help!  Just don’t go buying any Karl Lagerfeld bags like the one pictured above…it’ll set you back about $2000!! Save the money for closing costs ;)

Asbestos Free Home

Though a lot of my business is done in Toronto’s downtown condos, many of my sellers eventually make the move into a house.  A common issue in some of  Toronto’s older neighbourhoods is the use of Asbestos in the home.  The Mesothelioma Centre sent me a great article explaining asbestos and what do to if it’s found in your home:

While many homeowners may think that building green can take a toll on the wallet, the benefits outweigh any initial monetary losses. Building or remodeling your homes with eco-friendly materials can lower utility and water bills, higher real estate value, purer air quality, reduced waste sent to landfills and conservation of natural resources.

When embarking on the path to purchasing a home, there are many things to consider. Although it is one of the more exciting times in your life, additional responsibilities may arise. Many old homes may need repairs or renovations and may still contain obsolete building materials.

2Gladstone

On my last 2 Gladstone post, I wrote about the project selling out…and technically they did, but a few units are still available.

With all preconstruction condo deals, buyers are given 10 days to qualify for a mortgage and have their lawyer review the contract. If within that time something arises that hinders them from proceeding, the purchaser can back out and get their deposit back. The one bedroom units are still sold out, but a few two bedrooms are back on the market.

Since opening day last Saturday, prices have gone up by $10,000…BUT being one of the first Realtors to sell their has its privileges. They’re willing to honour opening day prices to my clients.

If you weren’t able to get in last week and are considering a 2 bedroom unit (from $329,000) send me an email…i’d love to help!” I have both price lists, floor plans and deposit structures.

Oh, and I still say congratulations to those who bought in last week…on paper, your unit has appreciated $10,000!

Scam

This kind of post should probably appear in my “Make You Laugh Monday” series, but it’s been a loooong week, and I’m sure someone could use a laugh!

Nigerian Prince’s, Daughters of Kings and now British Diplomats have all contacted me via SavelBlogs.com to ask for my assistance. Maybe it’s time to rebrand my marketing efforts…I’m thinking “Your Money Laundering/International Scam Specialist” Usually I just delete this ridiculous emails, but I decided to share this one juuuust in case someone actually falls for one of these scams! Here it is, with a hint of my commentary (in red):
