You’ve gotta love Mondays… Long gone are the worries of last weeks marathon-running-traffic-disruptions, protesters occupying parks and Blackberry’s breaking down!
Typically, I try to pick items of value that can enhance the condo living lifestyle for my Must Have Mondays… but after all of last weeks headaches, I’ve decided to choose an item that’s totally impractical for everyday living, yet soooooo necessary after a stressful day.
Stephanie Marin, a French designer living in the Côte d’Azur, has created a collection pillow sized pebbles for your indoor and outdoor space. The large pebbles, or Livingstones as they’re officially called, are covered in 100% virgin wool and come in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and colours. Just imagine how comfy a den full of these things would be to jump into!
Each order is custom-made and takes about 8 weeks to complete. No prices were posted online, but they do have a Canadian distributor - Roche Bobois
My mother often says “i’m worst than her with all the shoes I have”…and this past weekend, I discovered she may very well be right! I’ve got my running shoes, working shoes, weekend shoes, house shoes, water shoes, gardening shoes etc etc. BUT what I don’t have is a lot of space to keep all these shoes.
In an effort to solve my shoe collection of a problem, I came across two creations from brothers Jaime & Mark Antoniades of J-Me Original Design. The two work out of London’s Oxo Tower, and follow a focused design ethos which results in a range of products that encompass original, intelligent design and everyday function.
The Horizontal Shoe Rack was the first possible solution that caught my eye. It’s a stainless steel shoe rack that can be mounted to a wall giving it a floating look while holding up to 4 or 7 pair’s of shoes (available in two lengths). Stacking 3 or 4 of these above each other can create a wall of shoes allowing for quick access an open display.
The second choice was the Freestanding Nest Shoe Rack (also available to mount on the wall). It comes in one size and holds about 7 shoes. I like this one because even without shoes it looks like a steel sculpture that can be on display as is!
Both can be purchased online from the brother’s website … or if you’d like a space big enough to fit all your shoes without resorting to a rack, Contact Me, I’d love to help!
I’ve run out of jokes for my “Make You Laugh Mondays” and have made the executive decision to reinvent the often boring start of the week to “MUST HAVE MONDAYS”.
Must Have Mondays will be a collection of furniture or accessories that I think every cool condo dweller must have!
The inaugural item for this series is the super-cool iRetrofone. The trendy device was hand-sculpted Artist Scott Freeland. It’s a fully functional charging dock that’s USB compatible and is also a working handset! It’s fully compatible will all iPhones, and even allows users to sync data with their computer. The iRetrofone is available online and comes in a variety of styles and colours. I like this particular one for it’s gold accents. I could see it working well in hard loft, alongside other nostalgic pieces from it’s time. It blends our old stagnant methods of communicating with today’s mobile world!
Feel free to send me suggestions of other eclectic items you’d like to see covered on the blog!
Have you ever wondered what happens to all the fancy furniture in condo sales centres?
Sometimes it’s re-used, sometimes it’s tossed…and on some rare occasions it sold at a bargain price! On Saturday July 10th, 2010 from 10-2 all the left over furniture from the Freed showrooms will be put on sale. One of Brad Lamb’s projects in King East had a similar sale a few months back. I stopped by for that one and saw a ton of great furniture for crazy low prices!
I’m guessing this should be the same…or possibly even better! The Freed sales centres are some of the best out there, so if you’re thinking of attending, SHOW UP EARLY!!!
…and if you need the condo before the furniture give me a call or send me an email. I’d love to help!
I’m often ammused by all the crazy kinds of fridge magnets I see on daily basis…From tattoo removal (as if that’s something you’ll need every day) to competing Realtors and their smiling grins, the fridge has become a popular space for brands to promote their messages in consumers homes! And yes, even I am guilty of such tactics with my “Savel And The City” magnets making their rounds on various fridges throughout the City.
I recently stumbled upon some real swanky magnets at a showings!
“App Magnets” and as the websites description suggests:
Keeping stuff on you fridge? There’s an App for that. Set of 18 magnets, designed to look like iPhone Apps.
They retail for $16 on the UrbanOutfitters website and are a fun and playful way to post things on your fridge!
If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me when the real estate market is gonna crash…I’d buy the Nickel Couch. Created by American artist Johnny Swing, the nickel couch is the second creation in his coin-made furniture collection.
According to his web site, it’s made from approximately 7,000 nickels and held together by 35,000 welds! After a long day of selling in the city, I don’t how comfortable the couch is…but it definitely gives new meaning to the phrase “sitting on a pile of money!”
If you’ve found some nickels in your couch and are thinking of investing real estate, give me a call , I’d love to help!!
