I’ve been kinda quite on the blog for past week, but crazy busy at the Treviso Sales Centre! So many people were interested in purchasing at Treviso, that I had to camp out overnight in the parking lot to secure a spot for my clients. Thankfully we were all able to get our units before the project sold out. The first phase has 423 units and as of late last week roughly 80% of suites were sold firm! So why all the interest…
The Toronto Star ran an excellent article on how this project has the potential to solidify this area as middle Italy! With College and St. Clair to the South and Woodbridge to the North, Dufferin and Lawrence fit’s perfectly inbetween the two ethnic areas. Although it wasn’t just Italians purchasing at Treviso, majority of people who contacted me via the blog were of Italian decent and lived fairly close to the area. I noticed a split between older purchasers (55+) looking to downsize and many first timers (20-40) looking to still stay close to home yet have their independence with condo living. This is the newest condo to launch in the area and the first to reflect the neighbourhood.
The developers did a excellent job analyzing the demographics of the area and the need to accommodated the changing lifestyles. The bocce courts, Treviso Piazza and water installation were all nice touches and the feedback from potential purchasers I’ve interviewed resulted in some great ideas for future amenities…how cool would it be if “Cantina’s” were made available for wine making and storing? Or how about a large kitchen area for sausage making and pepper roasting? The open park to the north would make a great soccer field too!

Lanterra has done a “bellissimo“ job transforming the barren parking lot at Dufferin and Lawrence into it’s Italian inspired sales centre for Treviso Condos! Over the weekend, the sales centre opened it’s the doors for the first time. On Monday I had the chance to revisit the office and take a closer look at what Treviso will offer!
They have two model suites available, a one bedroom with den and a two bedroom with den. What I liked about the sales centre was that each unit had standard finishes, so purchasers can get a pretty realistic idea of what finishes will one day look like. All units come with 4 stainless steel front appliance – dishwasher, fridge, stove and microwave. A clothes washer and dryer are also included!

Back in August I was one of the first to break the story on Treviso Condominiums at Dufferin and Lawerence. It was while riding my bike in the area, when I first saw signs of change coming to the corner. You can read more about it here: What Are They Building at Dufferin and Lawrence?

After yesterdays post describing the master plan of the site… Lanterra Developments announced their latest condominium: Treviso Condominiums!
Finally a name and rendering have been given to the Dufferin and Lawrence project. The “After” image is a bit blurry, but it looks like a good mix of red brick and glass for the first tower! The new rendering is a big improvement from the “Before” seen on the Lanterra website over the past few years.

A few weeks after I posted my story entitled “What Are They Building at Dufferin and Lawrence?“, Howard Moscoe wrote to residents of the area with even more details about the exciting redevelopment!
According to his newsletter:
More than 9 acres of development has been approved for the northeast corner of Dufferin Street and Lawrence Ave West. This includes the Shoppers Drug Mart Plaza and the former Party Packagers buildings to the east along Lawrence Avenue. Have you passed by Dufferin and Lawrence lately? I have…and was quite curious to find a ”house-like-structure” being constructed on the North East corner of the large parking lot! In mid 2008 I started hearing rumors of condos coming to the large lot with a mix of commercial and residential units! At the time, all I was able to find was this “Upcoming Project” on the Lanterra Developments website which read:
“Lanterra has submitted plans for an upcoming large scale community at the north-east corner of Dufferin and Lawrence. The project, designed by Page + Steele comprises nearly 10 acres and contemplates a total of 1,600,000 square feet of residential and commercial uses which will include about 1,500 condominiums, 85,000 of street related retail and 60,000 square feet of office space in buildings arranging 7 to 24 storeys. The project surrounds a 3-acre public park being designed by NAK. The project will come to market in the fall of 2008.”
After a few summers of very little change to the corner, I pretty much forgot all about the development…that was until early July 2010, when the structure (pictured) above started to be built! I live a few minutes from the corner and have a lot of friends and family in the area. It’s a close nit community, and when something big like this happens, news travels fast. After several calls, texts, and emails from friends all wanting to know more about the project; I decided to dig a bit deeper to see exactly what was in store for Dufferin and Lawrence!
